Rottweiler, a breed of working dog which is thought to be descended from drover dogs (cattle-driving dogs) left by the Roman legions in Rottweil, Germany, after the Romans abandoned the region during the 2nd century. The dogs were known in German as Rottweiler Metzgerhund, meaning Rotweill butchers' dogs, because their main use was to herd livestock and pull carts laden with butchered to market. This continued until the mid-19th century when railways replaced droving. Although still used to herd stock in many parts of the world, Rottweilers are now also used as search and rescue dogs, guard dogs, police dogs and service dogs.
In more detail....
According to the FCI Standard, the Rottweiler is considered to be one of the oldest dog breeds. Its origin goes back to Roman times. These dogs were kept as herder or driving dogs. They marched over the Alps with the Roman legions, protecting the humans and driving their cattle. In the region of Rottweil, these dogs met and mixed with the native dogs in a natural crossing. The main task of the Rottweiler now became the driving and guarding of the herds of cattle and the defense of their masters and their property. This breed acquired its name from the old free city of Rottweil and was known as the "Rottweil butcher’s dog". The butchers bred this type of dog purely for performance and usefulness. In due course, a first rate watch and driving dog evolved which could also be used as a draught dog. Rottie's were used a lot 1st and 2nd Wars for protection to camps while soldiers were resting, ambulances, messengers and officers of war.
The first Rottweiler club was established in 1914 to up hold the standards for the breed of working dogs. The first two established clubs combined had 3500 members by 1924. They set the standards for how the breed was to be. Docking the tails was a traditional look prior to 2018 where in became illegal in some countries. Per AKC it is still part of the standards of champion showmanship.
We are Jonathan and Mandy, Owners/Operators and family of 9. Rottweiler breeding is our hobby. They are our LOVE and OUR CHILDREN! Our goal is to breed healthy, well-tempered, good looking, correct in type and intelligent Rottweiler Puppies.
When I was a child, we had 2 amazing females, Daisy and Tequila. I was immediately connected to them both and even tried to hide Daisy in my closet with the Teddy Bears, because that is what I thought she was. They were my best friends, my loyal companions and shattered my world when they passed. As an adult, a male named Rocket came into my life. He was without a doubt my best friend, my ride or die, he went everywhere with me. He recently passed and again we were crushed. The void in our hearts for Rocket encouraged us to share the love of a Rottweiler with others. So, knowing the joy and companionship a Rottweiler can bring, we decided to provide this amazing breed for other families.
Probably one of the most amazing reasons we enjoy breeding this incredible dog is that it is a family affair. It teaches our children responsibility and values for life that cannot be taught elsewhere. They help with the care of the adult dogs and enjoy all the snuggle time with the pups, which they can never get enough of.
Our puppies have the ability to be excellent security, service, therapy, seeing eye, hearing, occupational therapy or even show quality Rotties. Did you know that the US Military will pay to train your puppy for PTSD Therapy and other services? And even in some instances, service animals are fully tax deductible!
We home raise our puppies to 8 weeks of age before they go to their forever families. Each and every pup is well loved and have human contact from birth. Every pup comes with AKC Paperwork, their first 2 sets of shots, 4 deworming’s, Dew Claws removed and tails docked.
We want you to know that we do not and will never associate with any puppy mill. You will always get a better-quality puppy from a loving and caring breeder. You actually get a healthier puppy because your puppy will not be exposed to other dogs and an unhealthy environment such as a pet store or broker.
We sincerely want to thank you for your interest in Rock Creek Rotties. We are available by phone, email, Facebook or Instagram. Please contact us with any questions or comments you may have.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!!!

Our rotties are indoor and outdoors. They love being outside but sometimes this Oklahoma weather doesn't agree with what they want. We use spring poles and lots of ball chasing for exercise. Our furbabies can all sit, stay, lay, roll over and "bang" they play dead. They love their tummy rubs and training treats. We use big bones for rewards and to curve the boredom. We feed our crew Victor Professional for all stages of life. Mama can eat on it while feeding puppies and they transition with little to no tummy issues.
The Rottweiler is a robust working breed of great strength descended from the mastiffs of the Roman legions. A gentle playmate and protector within the family circle, the Rottie observes the outside world with a self-assured aloofness. (AKC) They are best friends to the entire family. Furry siblings to your kids. With a rottie you become theirs and they yours! It's a bond like no other!!!
